OFFICIAL ENGLISH TESTS: CET (College English Test)

The CET (College English Test) is a national English as a Second Language test in the People's Republic of China. This test is held twice a year - in June and December.

The CET consists of listening, reading and writing sections. It is mandatory for non-English majors and open to the public. A similar test, the "Test For English Majors", is mandatory for English majors and is not open to anyone else.

The CET certificate is a prerequisite to obtaining a bachelor diploma in many colleges and universities in China. Employers in China prefer applicants with a CET certificate.
